Hi folks.

My 4.6 use has surprised me by going almost a month without any new faults. BUT...
When it is cold my auto gearbox will not move in reverse. It feels like it's a clutch not getting any traction. If I rev like hell, the car jerks back a few inches. I then pull it forward without problems and repeat. The problem slowly gets better as the car warms up until I eventually get out of my drive. This only happens when very cold and all forward gears work as normal. When the car is warm this does not occur.

Any ideas? I have not checked the fluid for a while but there is no sign of a leak.

Cheers

Change your tramsmission oil and filter ASAP. After you change it run for a couple of weeks then change oil again. No need to do filter. It would seem you have a sticking valve in the valve block that free's off as oil heats and thins and metal expands. You may just clear it with new oil worth a try.
