Andy,
Too far from you to be of any real help fella!
I have a 2000 4.6 Vogue and before I got my Nanocom I got the "Engine Immobilised" message.
I couldn't enter the EKA because the door switch contacts were no good.
I managed to get it out of the immobilised state by disconnecting the battery, putting the key in and turning it to position 2. Then reconnecting the battery.
Not a gentle way to do it, but for me and many others it has worked as a "get out of jail free" card in the absence of a Nanocom or similar.
Once you have the engine running press the lock and unlock buttons on your fob(s).
Hope this helps. It worked for me first time I tried it.
