Hi guys i have just bought a P38 Range Rover 4.6V8 hse 1997 model. Very nice and clean and very very big feel like i am king of the road. Few problems with it that the previous owner could not sort out, can anybody help please.

Heater not working, hot air coming out of vents while driving but nothing coming out when the fan is on, its like the blower motor is gone, however if i change temp to cold, cold air comes out and when change to hot hot air comes out however the heater makes no sound at all, could it be the blower motor?

Cruise control does not work, anybody know were i would start with that?

Brakes feel really heavy to me but i was told they are all like that.

When starting up you hear a cranking sound, could that be the head about to go? Drives fine and pulls like a train, not sure if its the ignition not starting it up right.

And lastly heated front seats not working, could it be a fuse?

What am i looking at fuel wise with LPG? Will i save?

Hope u guys can help, first time here sorry to load u all with questions.

Blower motors possible but first investigate fuses and relays in the under-bonnet fuse box.

It's operated by a vacum system on bellows. The pipes fall off, split and the bellows fail.

Mine aren't heavy. It a system pressurised by a separate pump with it's own accumulator.

Cranking sound? Starter? Ring gear?

And lastly heated front seats not working, could it be a fuse?
The heater elements fail in the creases in the seats. Can be repaired or replaced.

Two suggestions for you.
- Learn to use the search facility on here. All of your questions have been covered in depth on here over the years.
- Find out how to use the private message function and PM DATATEK. He will sell you a lead to connect your computer to the suspension system (you'll need it sometime) but more importantly on the disc that comes with it is a complete workshop manual.

Welcome to a fellow Glaswegian.

I trust you have turned the fan speed dial?? do you get the lines at the top increasing when you turn the dial but no increase in fan speed??

It is an automatic system, that when in auto will automatically adjust fan speed to maintain a set comfort level.

I bet there is a symbol on your A/C control (HEVAC) display that resembles a book with an exclamation mark to the right of it.......

As mentioned, use the search, loads on here for all your problems. Just a quick tip on the heater issue, there's 2 blower motors, one each side of the car. Check the relays under the bonnet in the fuse box, relay numbers 7 & 8, nearest the front. Pull them out and check for any burnt or corroded pins or brown circuit board. If present, it's time for a new fusebox.

All fuses been looked at running fine, relay all good. No power to both blower motors, i was told i might have a bad earth somewere, can anybody shed any light?

Hi just to update you guys, all in the fuse box seems fine in the front and under the seat, also have that book mark and ! on the heater dial. have decided to give it in to the garage as my mate helped me out but the only conclusion we could come to was that i had a bad earth somewhere. there is no power what so ever to both motors and even the negitive wires are showing up as live.

As he is not an electrician and i am limited when it comes to wires i have decided to and it in. The same problem with the lights, they wont come on when i open the doors, they do come on when i press them but not connected to the door which i find weird. Think i do have some kind of wire problem. As i seen on the wires to the blower motors the last owner has other wires feeding off the blower motors due to a handfree kit and parking sensors which do not work.

Thanks for your help guys will keep you updated

To fix interior lights, hold in centre button on front light console for a few seconds until dash says "interior lights on". It's in the manual.
From memory the heater motor may have both wires positive when motor is not running. Check the electrical trouble shooting manual in Rave, goes into depth of how they work.

Good news guys good the heater up and running no more cold. nice day to have heat as its freezing in Glasgow.

Water was leaking into the wires in the passenger side and that gave the wire a short, changed the fuse and put a spark to the blower motor and its working well on both sides, feels good to have heat.

Now i need to work out why there is water dripping in the footwell just under the glove box, heater matrix or the O rings? Think i seen it on the forum somewhere.

Air suspension playing up also, just started after i fixed the heater. keeps going up, will come down manualy but just raises its self when parked or driving. It is very very windy up in this end today cold it be the wind shaking it side to side and the car thinking im off road thus raising suspension???

It won't be the o rings if the leak is on the passenger side. Could be the air con drains are blocked. Unfortunetly you will have to get under the car and look for the two rubber outlets either side of the gear box. I know its freezing in Glasgow but expect a flood of cold dirty water down your arm when you unblock the outlets.

AHH thats the worst feeling ever water down your arm, will do that in the morning, iv had oil down the arm but water will be a pain.

Eas fault came on and my lights on my dash light up like a xmas tree, got the cd and wire that the last owner gave me to reset the system but cd does not work on my apple so went about trying to borrow a windows labtop and hey presto before i find one the fault goes away all by its self and the range sits level as it was in high mode!!!!!

Sensor fault or have i bigger problems to come?

Probably a height sensor fault. The water leak could be pollen filters, pollen filter drains, or the top of the windscreen where the plastic filler strip in the roof where it meets the screen:eek:
