P38 headlight replacement

Is it possible to seperate the Headlight from the plastic surround?

I have got a replacement via flebay but the plasitc surround is damaged, anyone managed to seperate them? the adjusters seem to be the bit holding them on.

They are a ball and socket arrangement, they prise apart with a bit of brutality, I've done 2 with no problems.
