Thanks have given that number to Jones was just surprised they were asking if they do P38 pumps alot but guess just making sure.

He does hundreds of different pumps so hard to remember them all. There were at least 3 versions of that pump that were almost identical and used in same engine in BMW. VW, Vauxhall/Opel (probably more) but whereas some of the others were a mix, the P38 only ever had the 994 version. Who but a Rangie nut would remember that?!

Ok sent loads of info and photo of the pump so hopefully come back to me. Probably get my original pump done as one that is in the car at mo does the job for starting and moving. Cheers.

That sounds the best plan send the old to be done, saves on the surcharges,
i have a spare of unknown condition, i do wounder about fitting it to see what its like but dont want to bugger things up just to check.

Nice one, I wouldn't want to do that either to be honest.

Does sound like quantity servo or severe chain stretch. What's the modulation and is the lift pump good?
Its got a new head, chains, sprockets and lift pump. Got a new FIP (I say new removed from X-reg apparently but been ripped off long story). Mine is a 1995. Got my nanacom today so will check modulation etc tomorrow
