Have this problem intermittently.

I'll pull off after doing high revs for about an hr or so and am approaching a roundabout just as I take my foot of the accelerator the battery light comes on and the thing stalls.

Any ideas? oil and water both ok

Post it when you find the answer. Mine doesn't stall but I am aware of a hesitation at the point you describe. I may be in the early stages of the same prob and would welcome advice.

I THINK I can solve this riddle for you guys........... Its the EGR valve sticking open .....(Needs a clean)

Go to Rave .Section 17 / Page 243 ......

I had exactly the same thing on a 530D Beemer.... would FLY along the m/way pull off & its just went Flat as a fart!!!

The EGR recircs gasses into the inlet manifold it if don't shut at idle speed it "Drowns" the engine .............

Hope this helps

CHEERS data ,i have no probs so far but theres nowt like being prepared .........dave

In a Word ............NO!!!... coz that bugger is controlled via the BeCM as well ..... Well lets face it on a P38 WHAT ISN'T!!!!

To save explaining it go to rave & read pages 243 to 245 in section 17 .....pay particular attention to the last paragraph (Just above the Pic of the MAF Sensor)

If it fails SHUT LEAVE IT SHUT (but you'll have a "Check Engine" fault light)..if it fails OPEN... The engine will run like a dog (No power No Acc & very little "Pull")

Disco 1's & 2's are purely Mechancial valves .. P38/BMW Valves are controlled via the ECM & "report" back to the BeCM ( Hence the "Check Engine" light
