Think someone may have gathered by now that exhaust paste is for assembly of one pipe to another NOT for use as a flange gasket.

Ah well lesson learned
Been quoted €100 for a second hand turbo from one with less miles than mine

Pull yours before spending out on the other just incase its something you can easily repair..
If not, for the next turbo....
Buy new gasket's!!!!!

It should be pretty easy to clean out just don't use a cold chisel and two pound hammer. Anything stuck to it needs removing or it will be out of balance. Out of balance things don't like revolving at many thousands of revs per minute..
