p38 dse autobox need help please

hi out of the blue my rr 98 dse has no reverse.1st and 2nd fine. sliping bad in 3rd wont even pull its self! iv changed atf and still the same.i have fillter ordered wen i get it ill put new atf in agen. could it be velve body sticking? were is the velve body? she has me stumped. what do i do or check next.ps its on coil springs so i have the max speed 35mph! would this be covering a gearbox warning?

I think the fault messages cycle through when you switch the ignition so there shouldn't be any masked ones.

It might be worth having your fault codes read. When I had a problem with my gearbox, I was quite surprised at how much fault information was collected by the gearbox ECU. It even reported one of my valves sticking although that wasn't what was causing my problem.

hi thanks for that. the max speed 35mph comes up as soon as i put the key in! b4 she moves. there are no faults popn up on the dash. could there still be faults if she was pluged into? im in ireland now so not that ez to get her pluged in.

Yes, the dash messages are only indicators that there is something serious enough to warrant a visual warning. The ECUs will contain the detailed fault information.

Unfortunately, any fault codes may not help very much or lead you in the wrong direction. That's always the problem with these - £50 odd to get the faults read and anything it comes up with may have nothing to do with what's actually wrong!

can the cluch go that quick? was fine the day b4. wouldnt there be some slip in 2nd? very bad in 3rd. is cluch in autobox much harder to change than manual? manual i can do. autos im lost! thanks

if you have never stripped a auto box then dont even think about doing the clutches yourself.you will be in deep doo doo if you try it.:(
