put your location on here and someone near your may be able to help!!

when mine did that i swapped over a couple of relays in the fuse box and has been ok ever since, not saying it was the right thing to do but it worked for me.

Sounds like not enough air to make it rise from access to drive mode. 1st check whether or no EAS pump is working. Best to visit www.rswsolutions. Good overview of what the EAS is all about, with good clear diagnostic tips on video. Any advice needed after, come back on here and shout, but a look there will at least help you understand what`s going on. With luck a quick fix awaits. (fuse/relay/sensor)

when i put ignition on yesterday i lifted cover on pump and it was vibrating and makin noise as it was working then after a few seconds stopped and i gave up switched ign off and there was like a noise as if air was being released im really sorry im blonde and female and only no how to drive it on and off rd mechanical stuff well no comment thats y i get ripped off in garages ..................... im in chippenham wilts

Not sure the "i'm blond and female" thing is relevant. I'm folically challenged and male and the P38 still confused the hell out of me. I would suggest best bet is for somebody here to put you the way of a tested and friendly specialist around your neck of the woods.

Honest, try following the videos that Stoery Wilson has put up at rswsolutions. If you feel too `blonde` for that then you are at the mercy of the mechanic`s sharp intake of breath & solemn head shake, as he tries to estimate how much he can get away with. Even if you don`t have the confidence to `diy` yourself, try to understand whats going on so you`re not such an easy potential victim. Good luck!

If there's an escape of air you need to track that down. Try listening for a general area it comes from. Next use soapy water on any pipes you suspect. I reckon a pipe has come out of a joint on one of the front bags or on the compressor housing. Spray soapy water on connections to check.

Remember tho to have it running and try to take it to high setting.

Whereabouts are u?

im in chippenham wilts and garages dont like me because i own a p38 i went to the garage last fri for a temp sensor and bonnett was open and he was fiddling but my 16month old was creating so had to c to her and left him unattended then realised when i got home he was the 1 that refused me a price on a sensor (height) a while ago and wanted me to convert it all as he told me i was either rich or stupid to own 1 and i told him he was deaf and rude as i wanted a price 4 a height sensor also told him he was stupid as he obviously didnt understand the p38 im at my wits end and havent a clue where to start

The EAS system on the P38 does suffer from more than its fair share of problems, especially on vehicles near 15 years old, and since EAS is not fitted to many other vehicles, your average general multi model Garage typically runs a mile or wants a fortune to get involved as you seem to have discovered.

You could find a good specialist indie, and there are plenty, but again that won't be that cheap and may well not be a one time visit during the time you own the vehicle. Alternatively you could bite the bullet and sus the problem out yourself, and at the same time pre arm yourself with knowledge that will always stand you in good stead for whatever the future might throw at you.

The EAS was after all, not designed by some super intelligent alien race, In fact many might agree that "Morons from outer space" would be more apt. it's elements are quite within the grasp of even the most blonde essex girl. There is an absolute ton of information and reference material on the web from plain folk who have managed perfectly well and already this thread is brimming with very sound support and advice. So whatever you do, please do not feel alone or un supported.

Not mentioned thus far is getting some equipment to access the EAS's built in self diagnostic capability. I am not specifically advocating our own here, as there is quite capable free software availiable that requires a very minimal cost interface that will allow you to read and reset any fault codes from the P38's EAS system for not a lot of outlay.

Best of luck

well thanx for all the advice i really appreciate it im goin to try and have ago at trying to solve :) hopefully sum thing simple as it does sound like its adjusting when it has ran and u switch engine off so hopefully a pipe as bags are only 5 months old and garage no help as theres no eas fault coming up on dash sara

jesus i cart belive, nobody has 30 min to come round and have a look for you. if you was any where near me i would happly have a look for you. can you hear a air leek when you turn it off? try starting up with drivers door open, for 5 mins, open your window, then close your door, leave the bonnit closed, turn off and walk round lisen for leeking..

Why is everyone suggesting checking front airbags??? If it's not rising at all and it is an airbag prob, it's more likely to be rear, as rear must reach height before ECU will start sending air to front. Sara did they replace the air hoses when they did the rest, as they become scored by the sockets they plug into and leak there, hence using the soapy water to look for bubbles. If the original repair did not fix a leak, then the compressor could be suspect through being overworked.

hi it was just the 4 bags replaced a front height sensr and a recon pumpwas all working gd but no not playing the game garage un helpfull as there is no eas fault beeping thanx sars

Maybe the garage didn't recalibrate the EAS after replacing the sensor. Sorry, too far away here in sunny France to come and look. Needs the EAS software to check for faults and re-calibrate methinks.

hi little more help needed got my neighbour to give me a hand he pressed all fuses and the back has slowly but finally risen but no movement to the front cant hear any air and pump seems to finally be working ok suggestion plz (there are new bags ans sensor on the front )
