Help I got a 97 p38 diesel went to work in it the other day when it came to go home it wouldnt start all it would do is turn over without firing (no faults on dash) AA came out done checks said no power at pump in tank so I have dropped the tank checked the pump and all works ok cleaned connectors up turn ignition on pump powers up so refitted everything back in to place got diesel coming up to filter and to injector pump not checked injector yet due to battery gone flat, my local rangerover garage said prob electrical but wouldnt say where to look any one got any ideas please

just checked got diesel coming out of the filter to the injector pump but none coming out of the injectors- all the leak off pipes have been replaced-- still turning over not firing up

Have you tried "cracking" the injectors as it is being turned over ? if there is any air in the system it will never start. Slacken one of the unions onto the injectors and spin it over, you should have fuel leaking from the union.Do this in turn to all the injectors (tighten them back up as soon as you get fuel ) and then you should find it will start. Make sure the battery is fully charged as well. Nice to hear from another Clacton lad.

cannot be sure of this, but if your inj pump has a small solenoid with a single wire to it this is the fuel cut off, check you have power with ign on,if you have power then the solenoid maybe stuck, take the wire off and with ign on touch to terminal if you hear a click then it is working,no click ,not opening allowing fuel delivery, you can remove it and take the valve and spring out and refit to get you going, but you will have to stall it to stop engine, well thats how we used to do it on all the trucks I worked on, worth look/try?

if it is an auto, and there is no power to solenoid, you could run a temp feed direct from battery to get it running, that way you can stop it by dissconnecting the temp wire without trying to stall it

Sounds to me like BECM out of sync It will need to be pluged in for a code relearn. This as happend 3 times to me in the past. Any weakness in the battery will cause it. I thought my battery was ok until it was tested, new battery problem solved. Plug in usualy costs £45 /£65 If you have to tow it dont forget the fuse for the transfer box.

just checked the soleniod that is clicking when you turn ignition on have taken it out and played with spring and valve but it back in and cracked the injectors off turned over still not firing or pushing diesel thru the pipes next step to take it apart again and take the spring and valve out, after that i think it could be trip to land rover for a relearn

This is the same that happened to me to just after i had battery probs and the immbo re-leaned and it will go i put a battery on mine before i had it done. I did all the same checks as you first then took it to get done and it was sorted in 10mins and drove home.

Hi everyone thanks for the help range rover is now up and running it needed a BeCM relearn as sending wrong code out to the engine ecu a few mins on box and fired up no probs cost me £46 so not to bad once again thanks everyone from stuart
