Cheers! Took it out round the block and drives well. Although I've detected a new grating noise when turning the wheel. I'm I never done with this car?
ATF DEX 3Wrong threadbare what power steering fluid do I need. Haven't checked yet but I'll have a look in the reservoir.
When turning the wheel or when the car is turning? If the latter, maybe a wheel bearing.Cheers! Took it out round the block and drives well. Although I've detected a new grating noise when turning the wheel. I'm I never done with this car?
Column bearings or the little UJ at the end of the column maybe? Might be worth doing an oil change for the power steering. It's when turn the wheel. I pulled up on the drive and turned the wheel & heard the noise.
Datatek, I've sent you an email with a link to the video I shot including the grinding sound on Dropbox.
As brian38dse suggests idler pulley, tensioner pulley or bearings in the pump. As you turn the wheel the load increases on the belt and the bearings.
Power steering pump not the water pump is what I was referring to.Spot on! I'll get onto that. I'll do it when the radiator is being changed. It shouldn't be the pump as I've just replaced that. Likely the idler & tensioner pulley. Thanks lads!
Is it safe to drive or will I get done for noise pollution?
