I had the o rings changed on the heater matrix this week and she has come back with a new defect, electrical fault!!! all the lights in the dash come on and off etc, think it may have leaked on to some cables or something in the dash? any ideas?? i see someone else has had a problem same as this from user derry back in 2005.
Cheers

Excellent Advice.

I just noticed a drop of coolent on the drivers footwell this morning. Pulled off the bottom covers from the dash and I could see the start of a leak at the connection to the heater assembly so I assume the O-rings are beginning to perish.
One question though, when you remove the instrument panels do you disconnect the battery? I've heard conflicting report about this as the airbags are connected to it. Any advice?

Get Jason at Mobile Landrover repairs to do it..He comes to you and is very quick an cheap. Look fur his ad on ebay. It is a lot easier:D

There are 2 of them and they are above the gearbox and from memory in line with near the front of the front doors! If you crawl under you can see the one on the right easiest it's about 15mm diameter and is ussually covered in muck! Use a bit of welding wire or something similar with a small loop in the end to push up into it to clear it out, the one on the left is the same but is a little bit tighter to get at!

This might help! After stripping the carpet out as well as the under-dash panels, a friend and I hosed the car down all around the drivers side, windscreen etc, and discovered that water was ingressing through the dash, dripping down into the cable channel and then being soaked up by the carpet. We located the leak to the pollen filter caps! Basically the foam/rubber backing to the plastic caps had 'gone', allowing water to come in and soak the pollen filter, which in turn dripped it's way through what looked like the blower blades finally working it's way through the dash and onto the floor. I've replaced the caps on both sides with new ones, and no more leaks! So I ended up having a dual problem - the o-rings definitley had gone, hence the coolant, but this was compounded by rain/car wash water getting in as well.
