Hi Chaps
I have a 1997 Range Rover and the central locking has an issue.
It all started a while back when the left front door solenoid started making a whirring noise as it was being locked. It still worked fine though so I kind of ignored it for a while until it stopped working completely one day.
I then bought another lock assembly from a known working vehicle and fitted it in the door and it still didn't work. I then tried it on the connector in the right front door and the lock works just fine.
I then swapped both the door outstations over and once again, nothing on the left door working but the right side is fine.
Today I traced all the wires between the BECM and the door outstation and checked them for damage and did a continuity test, no problem there. Also no problem when testing the loom from the outstation to the lock assembly.
So, As far as I can see, no wiring problems, no lock solenoid problems and the outstation is fine.
Any other thoughts what could have happened? Can the BECM sense a problem with the solenoid and turn it off until reset with the LR test book or could there be a solenoid or something in the BECM that has stopped working?
Cheers
Craig.
