Hi Guys,

I need to do something about my cats as they seem to have been emptied out at some point in the past and the car sounds horrible (similar to an exhaust blow, but echoey and crackly).

Are the cheap ones on ebay worth bothering with? Someone mentioned in another thread that theirs were glowing red hot which worries me a tad. What would cause that?

Do exhaust places generally sell replacements? Any recommendations if so?

Are there any other options that I should consider? It managed to pass it's MOT (although it was running on gas) so perhaps I don't need them at all, although it would probably be simplest just to replace them.

Are genuine ones ridiculously expensive?

if lpg just put a pipe in the gap where the cats should be!!! simples!!

Is it really that simples though? Surely it would be simplest just to replace them, then I don't have to worry about the lamdas and finding pipe the right size and shape etc. I just don't want to get cr@p ones that will cause even more problems.

I just want it sorted - fed up with the noise now. I bought it for the lovely V8 sound (well, that was one of the reasons) and all I can hear is a nasty echoey clattery clapped out sounding farty sound.

I suppose I could just turn the stereo up but I'd rather get it sorted.

Hi Nathan,

Didn't you mention in another thread that these were glowing red hot though? Or was that someone else?

Be interested in contact info if you reckon they're ok...

The olds ones were glowing red hot yes thats why i changed em and the fact they rattled like a bag of spanners, Its going in for Mot 2mora so i'll know if they're crap if it fails on immisions but they seems great to me atm
Car Spares use em for nearly all my car stuff very competetive

Cats do run very, very hot that is how they work, and why you are recommended never to park in long dry grass.
