Iv got a 2001 4.0 p38. Nearly every time the abs or Tc cuts in on the near side rear wheel it locks up. Any one else had this problem.

Surly the break won't work if that was the case. It's just passed the mot so nothing wrong with the workings of the breaks in normal operation. Only when abs or Tc cuts in.
They are brakes by the way.![]()
I knew I never use this site for a reason. Looks like another p38 in the scrap yard as to dangerous to use.

The BRAKES will still work with the pipes wrongly connected, it's just the ABS/TC gets confused. Could also be the ABS ECU or the modulator assembly. Diagnostics may show what is happening.Surly the break won't work if that was the case. It's just passed the mot so nothing wrong with the workings of the breaks in normal operation. Is this off-road? TC will apply brake if it thinks that wheel is spinning. But cannot think why a duff sensor would give higher speed.
This is why I suggested the brake pipes have been fitted to the wrong ports - the ABS sensor sensor will say (perhaps) the LR wheel is spinning faster than the RR and brake pressure will be applied to the LR port - however that is plumbed into the RR brake - the ABS system will "see" continued wheel spin and will keep brake pressure applied to the wrong wheel locking - which will only increase the speed differential between the two wheels - which the ABS will try to correct with more brake pressure to the wrong wheel - this feedback cycle will continue until the RR wheel is locked solid.
Further replies are obviously not required as they are going to the scrapyard, if he can get the Hiab sorted. If he cannot sort the BRAKES out, don't hold your breath for the Hiab.![]()
Sticking modulation valve on the locking wheel. Over and out.![]()
