P38 BeCM Testing or repair

It could be the Latch (Cost £129.99 Genuine from Island 4x4), but if that's the case, more than likely the microswitch inside is either stuck or shot. This would give "Key Code Lockout"-Press Remote.
The Becm is located under the drivers seat.
You need a TX45 socket bit for the seat bolts and ideally a 10mm deep pattern socket for the nuts securing the Becm to the floorpan and also the power cable connection nuts.
You disconnect the negative lead from the battery first and remove the skirt from around the seat base.

thats what im gettin keycode lockout even tho im puttin in right eka code so i might get away with just gettin the latch done then if not ill have to start lookin at becm

Yup..sounds like the switch is acting the bollix.

I originally had key1 and 2 with my P38.The dealer then managed to misplace key2.After lots of hassle,they replaced key2 with a new one.Then sometime later the "lost" key2 was found and returned to me.So I had 2 key2,s and one key 1.So of course Key1 then failed and now I have two working key2,s,but of course only one key of the same number can be sync,d to the vehicle at a time.Just a pain the ....,but it would be nice to convert one of the key2,s to a key1

yes would be nice to get keys converted, only trouble is that the manufacturers Huf won't do it.

4 spline bolts and the seats out.
3 or 4 x 10mm nuts to get the becm out.i found it best to take digital photos of all 4 sides as there's pin plugs all round it,and earth wires.so its easy to re install.

aparently its not the switch its my becm so i thinks ive gotta bite the bullet but i aint payin land rovers prices so whos the cheapest an easiest cuz if i buy one would it need programmin to my key or is it a case of plug it back in put my eka code in an fob will work cuz if i tell my mrs its gotta go an get programmed after forkin out for becm she will kill me lol pm me or ring me on 07907890169

just had a nice lovely row with the bloke at land rover as i was quoted 30 quid plus vat for diagnostic check an get key sorted now they want 100 quid plus vat for basically takin the door card off that i had already started to strip off an was only held on by 2 screws not a happy bunny

i would never go to a range rover main dealer,their prices scare the crap out of me.
there's more than enough experts on here, who will tell you how to fix it (even if you haven't a clue what they're talking about,they'll explain it) or point you in the right direction.

"Factory trained Technicians" and a fancy showroom costs money.
Thing is that most of the people on here have been ripped off by their bull**** and lack of experience at one time or another. Main Dealer this and genuine parts only that..it's a big con.
Go by your instincts as well as your wallet and be guided from guys and gals who live in the real world on here and their experiences...there's plenty of them !!!!

i forgot to contact you last night irishrover with regards to becm but should do tonight just gotta c how much is left in bank after ive paided for recovery again to get my car back from landrover

cheers irishrover nice to know they are ppl out there who know what they are doin an just dont wanna take huge sums of money off ya for nothing you may of kept another p38 on the road an kept a man from gettin his balls chewed for buyin the p38 in the first place lol

i had a car doing this and when iwent into becm setting it had changed the becm to french! changed the latch and the wiring in the door very early 94 my and reset to uk and all was well
