I know this may sound stupid, but is there any sequence in removing the battery from my 96 P38 DSE? I think it's linked with the alarm/emobiliser, mainly wanting to remove my fusebox. Contact [email protected]

Many thanks

Nick:(

There is on my '05 Defender.

On my copy of Rave under Range Rover Battery.....

BATTERY
Service repair no - 86.15.01
NOTE: From ’96 MY, vehicles maybe fitted
with a back-up battery, the purpose of
which is to power the anti-theft alarm if the
main battery is disconnected. If the main vehicle
battery is to be removed it is essential to adopt
the following procedure before disconnecting the
terminals in order to prevent the alarm sounding:
1. Turn the starter switch ’on’ and then ’off’.
2. Disconnect the battery WITHIN 17 SECONDS
(if the battery is not disconnected within 17
seconds, the alarm will sound).
Remove
WARNING: Always disconnect negative
lead from battery first. Disconnection of
positive lead with negative lead connected
risks short circuit and severe sparking through
accidental grounding of spanner. Personal injury
could result.
Refit
NOTE: Coat battery clamps and terminals
with petroleum jelly before refitting.

1. Release 3 turnbuckles securing battery cover.
Remove cover.
2. Remove 2 nuts and 1 bolt securing battery
clamp. Remove clamp.
3. Disconnect battery terminals. Remove battery.
4. Reverse removal procedure. Reconnect battery
negative lead.

Have a squizz on the site for the appropriate RAVE download links (LR workshop manuals etc.) It's well worth having anyhow.

Hi always remove the keys from the ignition once battery removed as the car can lock itself when reconnecting the battery with the keys inside,NO **** I HEAR YOU CRY,but yes it has happened so be warned, tiga
