Hi,

The battery on my P38 (2001, DHSE) seems to go flat after heavy rain downpours..something that happened twice here the last couple of days :(

It has occurred overnight on both occasions, but I think the parking/near lights are turning on, which thereafter drain the battery (i noticed the light on late one evening also following rain / wet weather)..

Does anyone know what this may be caused by, or more importantly perhaps, how I can fix it?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Check if the carpet is wet in the drivers footwell.

Hi there, thanks for looking at this! Yes, I noticed that there is some damp/water at the driver's side carpet..but somewhat unsure what that means?? thanks

It means you have water ingress. There was a loom that used to leak water through the bulkhead in heavy rain, but that should have been rectified on your year of car. Leak on pollen filter top. Sunroof drain if it has a sunroof. Dampness could be effecting plugs under dash or cables under carpets or plugs behind right hand kick panel or BECM under drivers seat. Find the leak and stop it. Dry out carpet.

dehumidifier over night, you'll be amazed how much it sucks out of the car

Almost as effective as an LR main dealer on your bank balance
