p38 batteery drain

got a 1998 4.6 but the battery keeps draining , put a new battery in iy , same problem , when i do an amp test it shows nothing and the alternator is charging ok, anyone got any ideas

R F Box , sorry youve lost me, im no expert:

Most liekly either the battery is shot or the RF receiver is keeping the BECM awake. Lots of threads on this, try a search. The Receiver is under the plastic parcel shelf support on the drivers side. Remove the plastic trim and you will find 2 little boxes, one is for the radio, the other is the RF receiver, nearest the front I think, remove the single blue aerial wire. You will have to stand really close for the fob to work but it will stop it picking up stray WiFi signals. If that cures the problem you need to fit new receiver of the latest type.
Other causes of battery drain are alternator diodes, underbonnet fuse box and other faults with the RF receiver.
