P38 Another EAS problem

My P38 has now drop onto bump stops and i now think it has a hard fault?

So i bought leads and EASunlock program from ebay, Plugged into the car and the laptop and car are not talking properly, for those who no the program its coming up with 28 80 in rx box, i have tried everything.

Any ideas, suggestions or help would be great.

Put your location on.....someone close by may be happy to try their lead and lappy just to make sure yours is ok.

mine will only comm if i turn ignition till hevac comes on then plug lead in then initialise also check comm port i use a serial to usb adapter these are also port sensitive i always use same port on lap top brilliant software once up and running!

right click computer from the start menu, select manage, select device manager (vista, what version of windows are you on?) select the ports, then right click your usb to serial adapter, then select properties, port setting, advanced and change the port setting to one of the first 12, preferably 1 if available.

plug it all in to car, turn ignition on and it should work, you may need to change the port in the software suite, file, comms.

if you useing the software that came with the cable, discard it and download the software from: http://www.rswsolutions.com/media/rangerover_easunlock_suite_win32_10-20-08.zip

I have a (very) home made lead, I only have the tx, rx and gnd wires connected at the laptop, then to synchronise I just connect the DTR wire momentarily to gnd on the pc and it starts communicating ok. It shouldn't have to work like that, but it does in my case!

i soldered a permanent wire in behind the obd plug on the car, i used the software suite to work out what wires to solder where. i get perfect comms every time!!!

It's strange but mine will only initialise if i plug obd in after ignition is switch on if i plug in then turn ign on it will not comm?

hi thanks for the replys, yes i'm in Devon.

Right i have changed comms ports etc, still no change

I'm using the usb/serial adaptor that came with the lead, proven to work

I have also soldered me lead onto the back of diagnostic socket incase of corrosion.

I have been told that it could be the ECU, but i need on to try before i buy one, but trying to find someone local ish is proving to be difficult.

Going to go out now and try and pump up manualy as i need the car.

Any other ideas would be great

Av u tried all the com ports within the software? theres quite a few.. found mine on 3

yes i have, mine origanally was on 3, then i changed it to 1 then tried all 12.

wrxfifer (or whatever his name was) had the same problem with his. I think he fixed it eventually by replacing the EAS ECU. They're very cheap on ebay.

With the RSW software mine runs on comm port 4. Not all the USB to serial adaptors work with Vista. (does anything work reliably with Vista?)

Right i have managed so get some air into the airbags by jumping wires with the ecu unplugged. Which means i have no leaks at least.

I'm having to use compressor at home not the one in the car as it needs a new seal, where is the best place to buy one.

And what sort of of pressure does the eas system run at, am i right in thinking its 150 psi, if so where does that sort of pressure.

if you look on ebay there are plenty of the seals on there.i found one when i was looking for one,this seller is selling them from holland and his kits use a new type of seal.this is not dear as well,i think he was selling it for less than 20 pounds.here it is i just looked it up.ebay item number is,190350862225.£13.95 plus £3.00 postage.

thanks. I was uncertain which one to buy. io saw that one thats selling from holland or you have the teflon one, just wondered which one was better?
