hi i have a problem brakes went on it yesterday on my wife so i got it home and had a look

popped bonnet told wife to turn key no sound from abs pump so tapped the solinoid with screwdriver and off it went brakes working again so

went out this morning same thing had to tap with screwdriver

so off the landrover breakers for 2nd hand abs pump/acummalator/seloinoid off p38 garanteed to work from my scrap yard also got relay while i was there

clamped pipe from res and replaced whole system

turned key working fine

drove 20 miles down motorway and brakes dead spongy and hardly there

also the abs and brake warning light is on

just need advise does it only feed back brakes or front as well

do you think there is air in system only 20 mins to bleed it all

thanks in advance

Did you bleed it according to RAVE? they are fussy about doing it right

I would proceed with caution with second hand parts for brakes, are you sure it was the pump and not just the switch, I would have though the first step is to bleed the brakes following the correct procedure exactly and see if there is any air in the system, ideally you need two people. I would not drive it until your sure you have found the problem.

Thanks going to try and bleed it 1st if that dont work its over to drawing board

Can you just advise how rave tells you to do it im in work on using phone not pc thanks

I will have to do tmra now im in work till 10 I metered relay out thats fine

When I pulled relay it clicked so power there

BRAKE SYSTEM BLEED
Service repair no - 70.25.02
Equipment: Bleed tube and a clean bottle
containing a small amount of clean brake fluid.
CAUTION: Thoroughly clean all bleed
screws, filler cap and connections using
only clean brake fluid. DO NOT USE
MINERAL OIL I.E. ENGINE OIL ETC.
MAINTAIN CLEANLINESS THROUGHOUT.
NOTE: Do not allow reservoir fluid level to
fall below ’MIN’ level during bleeding.
Regularly check level and keep topped up
to ’MAX’ level.
WARNING: Do not use previously used
brake fluid. Ensure only new fluid is used,
taken from a clean sealed container.
Carefully dispose of unwanted fluid in a sealed
container, marked USED BRAKE FLUID.
1. Depressurise system. See this section.
NOTE: Ensure ignition remains OFF until
instruction 13.
2. Fill fluid reservoir with specified fluid to ’MAX’
level.
3. Bleed master cylinder as follows: Open bleed
screw on booster, when fluid appears, close
bleed screw.
4. Fit tube to bleed screw.
5. Open bleed screw, depress pedal slowly and
progressively.
6. Close bleed screw. Release brake pedal.
7. Repeat instructions 5. and 6. until fluid is clear of
air bubbles.
8. Open bleed screw, fully depress pedal, close
bleed screw.
9. Bleed front calipers, driver’s side caliper first, as
follows: Open bleed screw, depress brake pedal
slowly and progressively, Close bleed screw at
bottom of each stroke, release pedal.
10. Repeat instruction 9. until fluid is clear of air
bubbles.
11. Open bleed screw again. Fully depress brake
pedal, close bleed screw.
12. Repeat instructions 9. to 11. for passenger side
caliper.
13. Bleed two booster bleed screws, starting at the
front bleed screw, as follows: Open bleed screw,
depress brake pedal, switch ignition on.
14. Allow fluid to flow until clear of air bubbles.
Switch ignition off, close bleed screw, release
pedal.
15. Repeat instructions 13. and 14. for the rear
booster bleed screw.

will change accumm bottle for my origanal tmra then try again

if no joy will put 12v supply straight on back of pump this will tell me if solinoid valve/pressure switch is faulty and then change that and then bleed it all as stated above

Just put 12v direct to pump and it runs so it got to be either the pressure switch or accumalator so its time to eliminate 1 at a time

The accumulator won't stop the pump from running. Pressure switch will, duff relay will. Bridge 30 and 87 on relay socket pump should run. If not MF3. Check power to 86 relay socket with ignition on. Should be 12 volts. Check 85 on relay socket is grounded. If not pressure switch failed, if grounded relay is duff.

Correct wammers it was pressure switch all done and I blead the 2 abs nipples of air and its perfect now lights on dash gone out as well

So the switch on my pump was duff and pump on 1 from breakers was duff so made 1 good 1 out of 2
