hi guys
anyone shed any light on this ,my 2001 4.6 now takes longer to start from cold, winds over for 3-5 seconds before bursting into life , once started shes ok untill next cold start ,
she allways used to start straight up , doesnt appear to have any other symptoms

about 4 years ago,12000 miles ago, only does 3000 a year

tried waiting before turning the key on start up no joy , maybe lpg related but not sure what to try will have to plug my laptop in and see what shows up but have a feeling nothing will show up
i did fit 2 new injection modules a few weeks ago for a simalar fault as they have an effect on both lpg and petrol , it did appear to fix the fault , prior to that had the same fault and i replaced the maf sensor and it cleared the fault
But this fault keeps coming back

Going back to basics, have you thought about very low compression? Cranking will generate some heat in the cylinders which will make it easier to start, but if all else is in order it might simply be a mechanically tired engine? Can you do a compression test?

cheers guys
will look into this , i will do a compression test but i am pretty confident the engine is fine as its only done 75000 from new and been meticulously looked after by myself
i do feel as its an eletrical or eletronic issue
Wammers will try your option first as its just a case of swaping for another ,hopefully i can report back tomoz with success
i did connect my faultmate extreme yesterday and found no faults and looked at live data and all seemed fine

i belive there isnt a filter as mentioned above , anyhow i had a look at relay number 19 in the main fuse box which is the main engine relay ,didnt show any sign of burning or smell, but i thought to be sure and changed it for a replacement i had and this morning she fired straight up so hopefully this was the problem ,
will see what happens over the next few days before i am confident its fixed but it does look promising

Unless something drastically changed in the fuse box for 2001 relay 6 supplies power to the blower motors. If relay 19 is intermittent the fuel pump is not turned on with ignition to prime the system.

indeed wammers it is relay 19 which is main engine relay according to the fuse box lid , i may have been somewhat misinformed by this diagram i found online and not reading the key , where 6 in the picture is actually 19

well the fix was short lived the fault is now back indicating a fault with the fusebox , maybe when i wriggled the relays in and out i made a better connection on the circuit board on a point that might be burnt etc , Island 4x4 have genuine fuseboxes at £105+vat so i will strip it and have a look first before i order a new one
i know some people have repaired theirs but at £105 itll be done and dusted

stripped the fusebox down and it looks like new , no burn or scorch makes anywhere

the only suspect area was the 2 rear contacts of relay 19 which can be seen next to the BCM-3 threaded earth post above

below is a closer pic of the dry joints

so i re-soldered the 2 pins , reassembled the fusebox and refitted the fuses and relays an installed back in the vehicle and eveything seems fine she fires straight up
with no issues RESULT !
