loud bange in engin, was told could be build up of gas near air flow meter, can anybody help,

Is it a single point LPG system ? - they are prone to back firing
Can blow your airbox to bits and put a dent in the bonnet if you aint careful

Sounds like classic single point syndrome then
Your options are either to rip it out and fit a multi point system, which will run far better anyway - or run on petrol all the time
Your consumption on gas wont be that great on gas anyway if it is single point
Any LPG fitters near you that can confirm whether it is single point or not and maybe get them to have a wee tune up of the system ?
This wont stop it back firing again and could get expensive if it blows a dent in the bonnet next time round

you could fit a boy racer type induction filter on it( bout £25) see local factors

you can also get the leads and software, cheap but without knowing what system you got unable to find it for you. this will allow you to tune it up. also was the lpg low as its more comon when lpg is low.

check all the air intake is sealed and any clips tight

also more regular plug changes. i use cheap ones and change every couple of month!

if you get a boy racer filter fasten it down with bungee chords and line the inside if the bonnet/edge of filter with a small piece of rubber to help cushion the blow!

these are supposed to be good and i'm putting one on mine when i have rebuilt the engine: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLOS-Propane-...14&_trkparms=72:1683|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
all these will not stop the backfire but just make it less often.

when i first had mine, it had a boy racer filter on, i took it off and put new genuine box back on, with a blow out valve fitted to the top. this blew once, box in bits, nice round mark in the sound proofing of bonnet. so i fitted a new box with the valve fitted to the front, so that it had room to blow forward, no more problems, with backfiring or blown box
