Guys,

Im sure you will all of had this before on the forum but as I am new to it.... Here goes !!!
I have a Range V8 on LPG, the LPG has just recently been seviced when I bought the vehicle, I checked this with the LPG garage and believe it to be correct.... Im unsure what MPG I should be getting?
At present out of a donut style tank of LPG which holds £30 of gas I am getting between 70 to 100 miles dependant on my use of town/ motorway use?
Can anyone tell me if this is ok or about right?

Thanks in advance!:)

T.

Big Vee,

I believe mine to be around 60 litres??....I think as it costs around £30 to fill at the 52p a litre of what I pay?

Thanks,

T

you should get around 15% less mpg on lpg than you do on petrol.

but because its half the price of petrol it works out cheaper,

its almost immpossible to compare two cars as thier owners will drive different ways.

what i do is use the onboard computer to guage mine, the obc is not perfectly accurate but it's all relative.

mine costs me about 20 quid a week to go to work and back and a little running around. bit more if i use it alot at the weekend.

then theres the variation in price, i have found that there is a wild variation in price depending on the brand and the area of the country!!!

I get about 18mpg from a 4.6 on LPG, which since I do about 300 miles a week makes it around the same cost as my old 1.8 mondeo.

I get about 70 litres(which varies) into my 90 litre donut tank. I have a new 4.6 coscast v8 which has done about 10k i get a range of 160miles around town and 200miles on a motorway run at 80mph which i work out as around 10mpg around town and 15mpg on a run which is crap but who cares at 46p/l

I've got a 2001 4.6 running a Zavolli sequential LPG kit with a 95 litre tank, the car will do up to 240 miles on the motorway on LPG, and will do about 150 to 160 miles running LPG with the caravan on the back.

Flippin eck ! , my 3.5 does 100 miles town plus a little 'A' road stuff on 70 odd ltrs.
And it dont matter how I drive it within reason it is allways the same.

My 98 4.0se will do about 250-260 miles on a tankful of LPG, Ive got a 95 litre tank, but it never seems to take more than 75-80 litres to fill. Probably averaging 16 mpg on LPG.

I thought mine was bad, but it sounds pretty good compared to some!

I get 230 - 240 miles out of about 75 litres (90 litre tank) on my 98 4.6. Doesn't seem to matter what sort of driving I do, I always get exactly the same mileage out of the tank which seems a bit odd.

Guy

I get about 180 miles for £35(ish) about 70litres (90ltr donut tank) which I'm fairly happy with. I think its in the region of 12mpg.

It'd be great if i could get 14-16, but then i remember it is a 4.0 v8...

from completely empty mine takes £40 of gas, and on tarmac that gets me 250miles... But I drive like a fossil, locking the suspension to motorway mode makes a huge difference, if I leave it on auto so it goes up and down by itself, so at 30mph its in standard height not down lower, then I only get 200 miles from a full tank, 50 miles extra for driving around lower down, brilliant

serious? Is that what it works out to? I've never bothered working it out I just know my gas level lights are useless, so I run my tank until the car won't move, then fill up and zero my trip clock on the dash, and it gets to 252, 248, 246, 253, then is completely empty again, and to fill costs me £38 odd, 30mpg!?

thats with the suspension locked to motorway height all the time, and driving country lanes no motorways, and i don't accelerate up to 60 as quick as I can but I do get there, probably tend to sit at 50-55 on my weekly route, I can't believe that! I was raving about how much more it uses when its riding at standard height and ONLY getting 200 miles from a tank! My dad borrowed it for the week a while ago and I take the mick coz he drives a subaru he drove my rangie like I've never driven it and only got 180 miles from a full tank its backwards he's meant to be telling me to slow down not the other way round! I'm going to have to check this now! 30mpg wow!

I can't see how lowering the vehicle raises the mpg???

The vehicle weight doesn't change apart from the lpg used, and lowering the vehicle 20 mm won't make it less of a mobile brick.......

I warm my 3.5 up on petrol and then have to switch the petrol off and use what is left in the carbs before switching the gas on.
his gives me the oppertunity to check how far the carbs full take me along a piece of straight flat road.
I do this every day so here goes.

Switch off petrol at pelican crossing and cruise at 30 mph in 4th and the petrol runs JUST BEFORE the next roundabout about half a mile away.

Switch off at pelican crossing and cruise at 30 mph in 5th and the petrol runs JUST BEFORE the next roundabout about half a mile away.

Switch off at pelican crossing and cruise at 35 in 4th and the petrol runs out ON the next roundabout about half a mile away.

Switch off at the pelican crossing and cruise at 35 mph in 5th and the petrol runs out ON the next roundabout about half a mile away.

Switch off at pelican crossing and cruise at 40 mph in 4th and the petrol runs out ON the next roundabout about half a mile away.

Switch off at the pelican crossing and cruise at 40 mph in 5th and the petrol runs out JUST AFTER the next roundabout about half a mile away.

Still testing:)
