Hi all,
I returned from a short break towing my caravan. After manouvering my van away the car was turnrd off and left overnight in low range. i went to start it today and although it turned over freely she would not fire. the fuel pump primes. In the warning light cluster whilst cranking the warning light showing two cogs with an x through them shows. cant find this in the handbook.
Is this something i have caused by leaving car in low and trying to start it in low?

any ideas?

thanks.

That's the warning light to tell you it's in low range. It should flash and beep three times as it's changing over from one range to the other while in neutral.

should it beep changing over without the engine running? I'm thinking of putting a fuse into number 11 so car thinks it in neutral, then trying to start it. is this a bad idea?

cheers

I've just moved from low to high with the 'beeps'. Put into park and tried to start. Engine still turns over, can still hear fuel pump priming. Now warning says 'traction Failure'. Is this why it wont fire up or is it unrelated?

Is the battery ok? Weird things happen when it runs low on juice. Used to get allsorts of messages with my old weak halfrauds battery. Disconnect, recharge and try again. Crankshaft sensor might be another possibility.

Thanks for that, its a new battery, with new alternator and its fully charged. I visually checked the relays in the engine bay and one shows definate signs of overheating/burning. As you look at the fuse box on the left (wing) side its the bottom most yellow relay, the corner one. Can anyone identify it please?

which one ???

I think the bottom 2 yellow relays on the left are fan relays.

A burnt fuse box can cause all sorts of problems, you are going to have to lash out and fit a new one:eek:

Hi,
yes i am refering to the 4.0. The fuse that has burnred is the fan by the looks of it. (thanks for diagram). Thing is the drivers side of the heater has never blowen warm air since i bought it. I understand i may have to but new fusebox but as other electrical systems work not sure thats why it wont fire. Dont want to just replace things unnecessarily. (broke)
The Rangie lives next door to a septic tank. I believe this sends a signal periodically to the council giving its 'full level' How can I find out if its just lost its sync? old RF reciever I think. Blue wire not disconected yet.
If I have to but a syncmate which one please? I've only had this a week and dont know which type to buy.

thanks guys. Love the car, want to drive it though!!!

There's a guy on fleabay, his shop is Taw Park 4x4. Sells new syncmates for about £130. He specifies the one you need by model year.

Bit steep when they are only £87.62 direct from Black box plus post. Think he needs BSM03 for Gems.

Cheers wammers. Yep cheaper direct from black box. £94.72 with the vat plus p&p for the gems one.

Should be £87.69 plus post. Comes out at 108.81 Euro including Cypriot VAT of 17% that is £87.69. You don't have to pay our stupid 20% vat.

There site allows prices shown in GBP. For BSM03 for Gems its £80.71 ex vat - £94.43 inc vat (not sure how they work that out - isnt that less than 15%?), plus DHL cost, or cheaper by donkey post.

https://blackbox-solutions.com/shop/index.php not on here it don't. It's the exchange rate the day you buy it that counts not what it was when they built the site. !7% VAT would make £80.71 - £94.43. Unless they have invented their very own exchange rate. DHL is not cheap be looking at £30.00. They won't send it by donkey.
