I have had my aircon failure diagnosed as a leaky condensor. Best price I have had for repair is £460. Can the unit be sealed with some sort of gasket compound or will it have to be replaced. Can anyone help?:D

Hi,

Sorry they cannot be sealed as when they start tp leak it is invariably due to corrosion.
When mine went I was also quoted large sums to repair it....
Look on Ebay type in range rover aircon or even just air con - I bought a brand new one from an aircon firm advertising on ebay mail order for £150
Fitting is an easy DIY job - recharging can be done by any Decent garage.

Whole cost less than £250

Good luck

E-Bay is the place... I paid £100 for the condensor and £25 for a dryer. Cost me £65 to get the system re gassed.

Not too bad. You have to take out the intercooler and then it is a bit fidgitty but took me about 3 hours in and out. I am no mechanic but a pretty competent DIY car man! Then it was just a question of getting it regassed. Becareful when taking out the condensor that you do not loose the o rings ar ask for them with the condensor... i lost one and they did not supply new ones.

I have the proper range rover pages from the repair manual if you want them. I could fax them.

It says on the sticker on the front slam panel. Can't remember but mine was done by the guy doing the aircon system at work!!!!! He does cars on the side! Sorry I can't be more specific!!

I have just purchased a brand New Condenser radiator from Serck Marston in Oxford, £99.95 + Vat, took me half an hour to get out the old one, and
an hour to fit the new one back in again. Thats including the cut on the back of my hand which is usual for me. If you want any more info just email me, [email protected]
