My RR is 1996 with 101,000 miles on the clock. I did not know much about her history as I just got it. The second start comes with cranking sound, same as the first start, but dont start. I tried once with heavy throttle. Then it starts. I had experienced leaving it 1.5 hrs after my drive but still it refused to work. Once, I left it 2 hrs but it works. My princess prefers to move whenever she likes.:) What a wonderful lady. I had sent it to 4 x 4 specialist for oil leak two months ago. After repairing, oil still leaks. Finally I found out the leak coming from the oil cooler pipe. For pipe change, 4 x 4 quoted 450 quid. On and off, I had spent 800 squid. Thus I made up my mind in learning her character and fixing her.

Is it manual or automatic?

'96 is ripe for a hotfix at 100k. It may mask the chain-stretch issue but I doubt they will have stretched that much if the mileage is genuine. If someone local has diag like a Nanocom just to rule out other issues then that would be nice.

What's the betting on the modulation being in the nineties?

Glad you got it fixed! Maybe this means the land rover gods are smiling and my one will finally come to life! One can only dream!

Labour and parts is 180 pounds. Motor costs 100 pound. As a matter of fact, you can mend it by yourself. There is a lot of u tube video telling you how to fix it. hope it helps.
