Silly question but has any! out there thats had a re-map or tuning box fitted had any trouble with the auto gearbox? ive heard a few rumers bout them not like'ing the extra torque, or is this from people who just cant drive properly with out wreckin everything?

I asked the same question 18 months and 17000 miles ago.

Chips vary depending who is doing it, the installer creates the map. PSI boxes are all the same and work very well.

I opted for the PSI and never looked back.

A P38 diesel in standard form is simply ****e!

Hi Mike

I had my P38 remapped and the results have been incredible. While it is certainly no race car is pulls alot better and motorway cruising is a breeze. The MPG is significantly improved. So good in fact that if it was not happening to me I would not believe it. I went to a performance tuning specialist here in NZ and he downloaded some sort of programme from BMW - I dont know the technical bits its all like magic to me.

Immediately after the chip was remapped I did a 500k trip and returned 7.2l/100kms - about 37 MPG. I thought it was an error but filling up at the pump proved the case. I regularly tow a horse float and looking at the trip meter tonight over the last 3500 kms I have averaged 9.4 l/100kms this is combined use - around town, towing and motorway use - dont know what that is in MPG. Tows better goes better and no effect on reliability - I had this done about 30,000 ks ago.

Go for it, its worth it.

Mine pulls well as standard if your allready rolling and if you keep your foot near the carpet but with out flogging it, its just when you go to over take a sunday driver when you put your foot to the carpet you then reolise that theres nowt left to over take with unless its a long road...:5bbeatdeadhorse5::5bbanghead:
I think il go for the power box but i might just ring a few remap people that have been recomended, this is only coz its cheaper than the psi box and i just havent got that extra bit to spend... ive hears real great things about the psi box that given the cash id have 1,
Hmmmm need to sell a few things, Kids WIFE and dog going for a good price, PM me for details lol:5bparty::5bsifone::5bsifone::5bsifone:

No good without pictures, you can keep the kids but the wife might be OK:eek:

ive tried up loadin an mage for ya but i cant do it straight from laptop, cant do it the other way im ****e on computers lol...:monitor_punch:

****kkkkkkkkk il never afford the PSI box.... PMSL

Glad the missus dont come on this site she'd fookin kill me

Just spoke to elite remaps in leeds and he said he does a specail deal for landyzone users £199 all in, just wondering if any 1 has had it done with them and if its any good (the map)

Thanks for that... must admit ive spoke to evolution chips and they say they can give me 35bhp and 100nm torque extra with no black smoke or damage and a fuel saving of 20%, not sure bout the fuel saving but the torque alone sounds good...:)

As I said I have a PSI power box on mine, brim to brim it does around 24mpg locally and up to 30 mpg on a run. Much better than either of my previous 4 X 4's. For such a heavy car I think the economy is incredible and there is plenty of power when needed.
Sad bugger that I am I keep a fuel log so I know accurately what I use, helps to detect the onset of problems too.

Have a PSI Power Box on mine too, but have no instruction book or documents on it, do you have yours? I am reliably informed that the the instructions show how to tweak it for best economy or performance. Having fitted a performance cone filter and sorted out the tatty plastics and smoothed the air intake tract, I would dearly like to drop her on a 4x4 rolling road and do some tweaks now she is breathing somewhat better.

You have fitted a cone filter and smoothed out the inlet tract in the manifold and that will make a turbo engine breath better. You are having a bloody laugh. You read too many silly tuning threads.

There is no instruction book as such. Early power boxes are fixed, later ones have setting options. On a diesel more performance is always at the expense of fuel consumption except on the auto there is a marginal difference due to fewer downshifts in certain conditions.
A performance cone filter will do nothing more than empty your wallet.
You clearly know sweet FA about diesels:rolleyes:
