hey! i need your help please before i get my p38 ( 1996 4.6) to the specialist!
i was trying today to start the engine, but i was surprised that the battry was empty suddenly! so no light inside, no lock door works! no nothing! so i tryed to move the cable of the battry, but nothing happened! so i tryed to get help the battry from another range rover, so a catastroph happened! the motor start and i heard a loud noise, i took off the key, but the range didn't turn off! so i moved quickly the cables of the battry!
someone told me that the unit that make the engine start ( i don't know its name )is stucked!
any help or opinions please!
best regards!

It is not a good idea to jumpstart the RR as you have done as they are very sensitive to battery voltage fluctuations. It is best to remove your battery and recharge it or replace it with a fully charged battery before attempting to start the RR.

If you mean the starter is turning the engine over even with ignition off then it sounds like the starter relay contacts have welded them selfs together if so fit a new relay.

Dont think plugging it into a scanner would help identify this problem but I could be wrong, could be a wiring short I guess but first thing would be to locate starter relay and unplug it see if it cures the problem.
