Hi all, I’m Jim. Bought Freelander as my first venture into 4x4 dad has had assorts over the years inc Series 2 , Series 3 Lightweights etc. I have had mine 3 months and first issue is a P1613 code. Apparently I now need a diesel specialist...anyone seen this before and can tell me what it means/points to? Thanks

Tried to look up code on list I have of P codes but all mine are P0xxx where the P1xxx is listed it says manufacturer specific codes associated with a particular ECM don't know any more than that sorry.
Hey, thanks for looking this up for me! Recon this one is going to be a nightmare!

If You do a general Google search it says the code is triggered during a communication from the ECU to the MIL lamp circuit and the voltage is too high indicating short to ground on that circuit initially I would test the mil light does illuminate then spray all connections multiplugs with electrical contact cleaner Holts is one I just used it works well then if after removing fault code it returns its search for damaged wires etc.

Cheers buddy. The interesting thing is that there is no light on the dash but I took it in for inspection because it’s spitting some diesel onto the floor on startup at times and it’s smoking a little and runnning lumpy on tickover. Almost like the injectors are an issue...

could be but EGR valves give lumpy running too you really need to plea with someone on here near You to take a look if You were local to me I would have helped more good luck, AL.
Hi mate, just to update you and say thanks! I took the F1 to a Diesel specialist and had two new injectors replaced (fortune) and touch wood it seems to be running a lot better! All the Best.
