p 38 engine swap

hi/ new member paddy from Dublin Ireland here .
hi to all members .
looking for some info my r rover p38 4.0 petrol which came minus its engine it was taken for a kit car.by last owner I got in from e bay .
my ? is I have a 3.9 recon engine from my daily driver classic which is running 2.8 diesel Isuzu now.
it looks like it will fit but if I find a knackered p38 engine & use alternator etc. to fool the b e c m will it work
any p38 men out there ?

You'd be better posting in the RR section you'll get more p38 gurus that way...welcome to the loonyzone by the way...
