Yeah they are pretty heavy. Ours, like yours, the chassis is perfect, don't need to touch it at all, was pleasently suprised by that :D Not sure if ours is a widetrack or not tbh.

Removing springs...hmm! How about fitting parabolics to make the ride a bit smoother? Are you going to use the same tyre size as your landie so you dont have to take different size spares?

Will be interesting as the months go on to find out what you do to it :)

Yes, Its all ready fitted with wolf rims and 255/85's so primed. Will replace with KM2s before we leave.

thought of para's. I wanted to see if I could find anyone else that has done it before spending all that money. There is someone who has removed the 2 and 4th spring from a sankey with good results.

springs are narrower than on landys, have brought many down here - never had a bouncing sensation from any of them, always bring them down in 2's stacked inside each other!!
Widetrack has a tailgate narrow track has fixed back.

delivered one to a customer (had no nato hitch fitted on his 90 at the time) 130kmph no problem - very stable, even with 2 stacked towed at 100kmph and on back roads to here still able to do 80 no problem with weaving or bouncing. I have made my own "outlander trailer" but instead of using leaf springs have used coils and adjustable shox (needs a bit of re-design as i bent the axle by carrying over 3 tons in it down here!)

Hahahhahahahahah, just saw the price, £45000.00, plus shipping from Auz, would be cheaper to buy a house whever you were going

45k? Yeah whatever! Who on earth would pay that, you may as well get a big ass expedition truck for that.

Mmmmm a big ass expedition truck :) Sadly I don't have 45k to spend on toys....

What I am thinking of doing is picking up one of these... (Folding caravan that folds on the line.)

Then putting it about a foot off a sankey chassis. That extra foot can then be used for storage, slide out bbq, etc.

Plan to have the fridge on a rotating panel, so it can face inside or outside...

Eco it up with solar panels, to top up the on board batteries..

Stick on an awning...

Anyone see any problems ?

Yea if I saw a nice one I'd consider it, the ones I have seen are pretty massive, probably more than I need.

I have no experience with trailer tents, but was worried that being canvas, there would be flapping in bad weather, does anyone know if that's the case, or are they more sturdy than your average roof tent ?

Some cheapie trailer tents on ebay, but the problem is as soon as you change the height by putting it on a sankey, many of them no longer work...

Are those trailer caravan things quite sturdy when in their comapct form? Just thinking they might rattle to bits?

Not sure how sturdy they are, also suspect it would fall apart on a Morocco type trip, hell my high lift fell apart :D But I'm only going to get a cheapie, <£500, and then I'm doing a long soft UK trip later this year, just wild camping, so it will pay for itself then. If I take it on a hard trip later and it falls apart, then I'll know it wasn't very strong ;)

Was also thinking of a spring based damping system, will ask my guy if that is possible!

Wish it was built already cause the basidos who are sanding my floors packed all my beds away and now I have nowhere to sleep :(

Spring based damping system...are they solid trailers then without any springs?.

Your hi-lift fell apart? Oops! Actually one of our bolts rattled out, only have myself to blame really, should know better to check it.
