Overheating?

My 2004 td5 temperature gauge has started going up to the red and then dropping right off the scale with the red light coming on. It then feels underpowered and not right.
I have had in the garage and they have changed stat again but not su what it is!!!
They now are saying the head might be cracked but they had this off not long ago when I first bought.

Any ideas??????

Take it to a proper garage whow know what they're doing is my advice. If you're in the Midlands I can reccomend a few.

temp sending unit is telling the ecu to go to limp wrist mod. have new sending unit installed should due you.
