Last week my discovery TD5 (2000) rear passenger side almost went on fire, lost of smoke etc. I assumed the brakes were sticking on so cleaned up the caliper and replaced the brake pads and disks (both sides). But it was still getting very hot. After more investigation I found the bearing carrier was losing grease from the bottom, but there was no play in the bearing. I replaced it anyway.
But the hub/brake is still overheating, after a short run it is 90 degs whereas the other hub is only 30 degs.
The caliper does not seem to be binding as when I stop the disco can be pushed back and forwards easily.
Anyone have an idea what is wrong?
