spent all day at muddy bottom with no probs atall..jet washed the engine and rad for the trip home.got about 2 miles and temp guage started going up so whacked heater on full but it still went up into the red.pulled over and expansion bottle overflow pipe was ****ing out water ..left it 20 mins to cool down refilled bottle and drove off.2 miles overheated again.this time called the rac, they filled bottle checked all the in and out pipes with his digital temp guage thingy and all was reading well.left motor runnin for 15 mins guage was normal so all was well.drove off 5 mins later overheated again.this time was put on a low loader to get home.mechanic had a quick look and he thinks the water pump has a small leak on it.do theese symptoms sound like a water pump problem???

Could be.
Whip the fan belt off and turn the water pump pulley by hand. How does it feel, does it turn smoothly? Can you see any seepage from around that area?

yes could be i did jet wash it out but as i washed from the front of the rad inwards people are suggesting its pushed all the **** into the rad,so i might give a proper clean later and see what happens

I had problems with my radiator after the last salisbury trip. It took an hour and a half off constantly hosing down the radiator on both sides to clear it out. The amount of mud that came out made it look like I had cleaned my entire landy.

cleaned out rad..but having driven it again it still does it now its all clean i can see water running down the engine and is coming from where the top round pulley is,so i assume this is where the water pump is??
landy garage says it can be a straight forward job,but if the bolts snap apparantly cos they go in the block? its a major job

if they do snap you'll still have quite a long stud sticking out which you can weld a bar onto to turn, then apply some heat to it then when it's very hot throw some cold water on it to shock cool it - thats usually enuf to free it up - if that fails there's all sorts of easy methods of extracting studs - worse case is you drill it out and retap/helicoil
