aint life a bitch had me p38 for about 3 yrs no major issues then this week we decide becouse of pet price we will sell rangy and buy small car as weve both got m/bikes take it out monday overheats,let it cool fill tank drive home ok tuesday buy car ,hire low loader but car on drive of ,overheat, pull over nick water from koi pond [owner not in]drive 2 mile overheat stop let cool blah blah get home check for oil in water /water oil nothing:mad: checked hoses ok w/pump ok no smoke from exhaust went for mot last week passed emissions in short HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP:doh: ps read threads can remember someone saying about some glug u can put in that seals h/gasket.
 
i would find out what the problem is before starting down the bodging route, could be a stuffed rad or even a thermostat
 
ok filled with water,bled system ,she runs as sweet as usual apart from oil leak from front cover so is this a d i yers job and as anyone else had this as i thought the head gaskets didnt need much of an excuse to blow:confused::D
 
di you actually check the stat in a pan of boiling water and see if opens, and take the rad off and flush it. could well be a partial blockage in the rad. i would try and track it down just in case it happens again and theres no pond about for ya to drain:D
