hello people newbie here with a new purchased landrover discovery 2 td5 landmark.:)
i have an over fueling problem i think? the landy blows thick black smoke underload, which makes me look like james bond apparently? ive looked at a few things, ill list what ive done.
ive checked the intercooler hoses for delamination they seem fine (are silicone1s)
ive cleaned the map sensor, also disconected it and test drove no difference.
ive disconectted the maf and test drove no difference.
ive replaced the air filter with a k&n and checked the air intake isnt blocked.
im starting to think it might be an injector problem,
also it has a larger intercooler a de-cat pipe and egr delete, i think its re-mapped as the warranty seal is broken on the ecu.
any help would be much appreciated.
many thanks Tom

hi, the best would be to connect it to a tester, this disconnecting sensors kind of diagnose isn't the best cos it might be a wiring issue on one of the circuits but you'll not know on which one...a Td5 is hard to diagnose without tester

untill then check fuse F2 in engine bay to rule it out and see if there's oil at the ECU red plug and if there is replace the injector loom... black smoke can be due to the AAP sensor(in the airbox) but you can't rule it out by disconnecting it

find somebody with tester to help you

oil in the red plug has no clear pattern of symptoms, the injector loom is damaged by oil ingress and the whole injector management is messed up... replace the loom asap...though there might be other problem too

also had a bit of smoke come out the interior air vent today had to open the window wasnt like it had a smell to it either? i dont know weather to sell it or not? no1 seems to be giving me any ideas on the over fueling problem??

ive checked f2 fuse its ok, i found the aap sensor, i took the air box off and disconnected the aap and the maf, started her up and revved her, there was no smoke with the air box off and the sensors disconnected

it's fixed with two screws to the left lateral side of the airbox... but all you can do is to clean it with MAF cleaner which doesnt show you if it's good or not only the tester can reveal things...see attachment(click second time to magnify it)
