Can you give a description of what you has as the symptoms? When I change through the gears it seems to over rev into the next gear. Is this the same for you?

Thanks.

S

thats what the clutch switch is meant to do, it cuts the revs down between gear changes, so you need one

Hi 90 td5
The revs used to stay high during gear changes the clutch switch had obviously failed
I put a new clutch switch on solved the prob straight away.

you need 2 spanners 1 to steady the lock nut 1 to wind the switch off & on
Very straightforward.

The clutch switch is actually there to disengage cruise control (if fitted) if you dip the clutch to change gear. Otherwise it would rev its nuts off trying to maintain road speed.

It does not stop the engine revving when dipping the clutch to change gears. Dont believe me? Rev to 1500 rpm in nuetral and dip the clutch. Note the result. Now carefully drive around the block and rev to 1500rpm in a suitable gear and without changing throttle pedal position dip the clutch. Note the result. As an old school driver I always try to match the engine speed when changing gear to make things easier on the gearbox and drive train and if the clutch switch worked as stated it would make this and double declutching impossible.

However I have no explanation as to why changing the clutch switch would solve your initial problem.

i believe the clutch switch only has an effect when your not on the gas pedal

Hi Shifty
Respect what your saying but it has cured the over reving between gears
