Hi everyone.

At long last signed up as I need your help please.

Got a 300tdi that over heats under load  Any ideas???

This is what i have done so far (in order).

New water pump & stat
Flushed system (including the rad)
New electric fan
New head gasket!!!

And now I have just had a recon engine fitted and still it starts to cook up under load????

Any ideas anyone.please?:(

Thanks

Have you got any kinks in your pipework?
What condition is your rad?
Is the rad blocked with mud not allowing air to pass through?

Does she smoke under load?

Thanks for the reply.

Pipes are all good.
Rad is in good condition, flushed through and cleaned on the outside.
No smoke either.

you can only say rad is good after feeling its hot all over core when engune up to temp ,if its not hot all over engine will overheat

take a good look at yr rad again clean with a hosepipe and make sure water passes thru all over

i cleaned and cleaned my rad and thought it was spotless but still ran very hot

this is what i found when i moved the oil cooler up a bit to look

Thanks guys.

Will take another look but I took the rad out to clean it so I'm quite sure I didn't miss any dirt.

I will try the hot touch over it tomorrow as that is something I've not tried.

could it just be a faulty guage and not actually heating up that much

I have a brand new rad and mine isn't hot all over!?!?!
Can't remember which way round but it's hot at top/bottom and cooler at bottom/top

may well be cooler at bottom but cold parts indicate no coolant flow ,300 rad,is well known problem especially as fills and empties on same side

Don't think its the gauge as the last time it boiled up it really boiled up, new engine needed.

Checked out the rad and a cold spot found:doh:

Looks like a new rad will be on its way to me.

Thanks for the help people, will let you know if it fixes the problem
