Thanks, I did see that he stated that, but wasn't sure if that was a obd2 port.

Will have a look in the morning.

Talking about fuel consumption, I downloaded a mpg app to my ipad a couple of weeks ago and just filled up after a month or so, bit shocked as mpg was down to 24.3. I know most of my journeys are only short trips but expected higher than this, mot passed a couple of weeks ago without any smoke problems.

Sorry for reviving this post but I found the information regarding the ScanGuage 2 very interesting on this thread and also on others so much so that I have ordered one myself and it should be with me tomorrow.

I like where SV has fitted his SG, but was wondering where anybody else has fitted it and is there any pictures available to where you have fitted it.

Thanks

Grayo

Mine is situated above the clock. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

If you use sticky-backed Velcro then it's easy to swap to another vehicle. :)

If like me you pass the cable under and/or behind the centre consule, beware pulling the cable through if you're removing it, as it's damn easy to trap it on other wires by the release catch on the internet cable type plug. :(

Ok Thanks for that. I was looking at the little shelf on top of the radio myself but the more idea's the better.

Thanks SV, yes I see what you mean.

Here you go. The cable goes up behind the passenger glove box and runs between the top of the dash trim between it and the windscreen.

Ok thanks for that. Mine arrived in the post this morning so went out and plugged it in. Tried it on top of the clock but found it a bit to far away to operate the functions from the driving seat also tried it on the little shelf above the radio but didn't like it there either, so in the end I placed it in front of the dials the same as SV, has his and it is within easy reach to be able to use the function buttons and is in line of sight when driving.

As everybody has said very easy to setup and works a treat. Just got to go through the manual to see what features I want displayed.

Thanks all

Grayo

It does too much for me to want to operate the functions whilst I'm driving. Out of reach is a good place for it IMO :)

(besides - I can read the gauges at that distance. Too much closer and I'd need my reading glasses ;)

To get accurate readings it's very important to set it up properly.

I used my sat-nav to check the speed calibration as the Freelander speed is not to be relied on - especially if you have a non-tandard tyre size.

I find that the air intake temperature is pretty accurate bearing in mind it's taken either from the MAF housing on earlier freelanders and from the sensor in the short plastic tube bit joining the top turbo hoses after the intercooler. It usually shows about n5 to 6 degrees above the ambiant temp.

On occasion it can take a couple of miles to get 'real-time' readings, so don't be alarmed if you get the default minimum reading of -40degreeC for the engine temp for example. LOL

The fuel consumption set up also needs to be followed spot on or else you get unbelieveable mpg figures.

I've found it to be a great help in reading and clearing fault codes - saves a fortune on stealers prices.

Enjoy playing with your new toy. ;)

17" wheels on mine, not sure if that's standard or not

Mines an 06 model so it will be from sensor in the small tube.

I've got half a tank full at the moment so that'll have to wait for a while. One thing I'm confused about is where do you enter the price of fuel per litre, assuming you can do this. It's supposed to be able to tell you how much a trip cost.

Yep tried this already, happy to say no fault codes showing. Going to plug it into wife's astra tomorrow to see if it can read any codes on that as the EM light comes on intermittently.

Enjoy playing with your new toy. ;)

Having already, can't wait to get the caravan on the back and see what I'm getting with that.

Very good point booboodag.

I have a good friend who has one fitted to a 2002 TD4 and he doesnt get all the info - that would explain it. :(

SV.

Interesting thread and this thing looks damn handy but is it going to give me any info worth looking at from a 2000 ES?
