Just treated myself to a fiver's worth of thermometer off eBay which can show internal and external temperatures.

My question is with the 10 foot of cable available where do I place the external sensor so it gives a reasonably accurate reading. I don't want to measure the temperature of the sun or the engine bay. Any suggestions would be welcome.

When I asked my son for advice he pointed out that when we're moving the external and internal temperature are the same due to the draughts and all.

I have one, its sensor is about the size of a 5p, it sits at the very bottom of the drivers side door seal, just poking out a little, you can hardly see it.

i think that posh cars put em under the front bumper normally, i'd pout it to one side though to try and avoid the rad. I guess if yer moving though this won't really have a bearing as the air hitting it will be fresh there.

i got a temperature sensor and digital readout from a THERMO KING freezer lorry i cut up some years ago. i was intending to fit it on a van i had but never got round to it.

if a car is posh enough to have outside temp sensors then won't it have heatred mirrors too ( i know landys dont but most normal cars do!)
