I'm looking to buy some outriggers for my 2A. Different suppliers quote surprisingly different prices. I assume this is based on the quality of the raw materials and/or fabrication. Can anyone recommend a source of good quality repair parts? I don't want the cheapest, assuming you get what you pay for..

The Britpart ones are ok, in the end there's a not a lot to them. Look at the pictures and see how much flange comes with them, they vary and it depends where your rust is. Be careful about which ones - the LWB and SWB fronts are different and it can be hard to get the LWB, the mil and civvy rears are different so again make sure you are ordering the right ones. In my exprience so far the cheap ones are perfectly good. I use Paddocks.

@Blackburn: Cheers. They're out of stock of rear fuel tank RH SWB outriggers at the moment, and I'd prefer not to order from different places if possible to keep P&P down. I will give them a call to find out when they expect more in if YRM can't help. I like what they say about their supply and manufacturing.

@rob1miles: I assume the price is related to the quality of the raw materials used and the manufacturing? i.e. the difference between scrap metal of dubious origin/content melted down in Russia or China and imported at low cost, vs. better quality steel made closer to home. I may be jumping to conclusions, but I've seen the price of them on Paddocks and they are too low for me to account for any other way.

I also need a new fuel tank, and I've heard some people have had to modify Britpart tanks, or their outriggers, themselves to get them to fit, as when lined up with an OEM tank they are clearly different.

Re metal quality, with the exception of people like YRM who are manuafacturing themselves my experience is that most parts seem to be made in the same factories in China, Turkey or India and put in different boxes (unfortunalty sometimes including OEM boxes).

I used Britpart outriggers and rear cross member, no issues in nine years. Also two Britpart fuel tanks fitted, they went on fine and are perfectly good. I believe Britpart bought in a dodgy batch of fuel tanks that didn't fit and that problem is now in the past.

YRM don't do that stuff. As posted the Britpart version is your best option. Recall they cost under £20.00 each.
