Hi all, after my 2000 Disco TD5 got totalled by some clown not paying attention I've bought myself a nice 2003 model with the insurance payout. The problem is that there's a slight rumbling/vibration throughout the rev range. I've all but cured the problem at high speed/revs by removing the viscious fan which was shot, but still have the problem at low mid revs. I had it into the garage today to check bearings, bushes and engine mountings but the only wear we found was about 1-2mm of movement in the front output shaft. I'm not sure if this excessive so replies would be appreciated. The other problem is that the three amigos come on every now and then when I start the car, turning off and back on again cures the problem but I thought the lights could only be turned off with a diagnostic reader as was on my 2000 model. I've read through a lot of posts to try and find some answers but would like some one just to put my mind at rest. Many thanks to all the members who take the time out to help others.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, yeah checked all the bearings, steering, bushes and everything else I could think of. It's nothing serious, most people would probably not notice anything but when you become 'tuned' to the sound of how somethings supposed to sound then I suppose you notice it more. It's more like a slight imbalance in the engine that you just can't quite put your finger on. I had my last disco 8 years and don't remember it feeling like this one does. The car goes like hellfire, I've a feeling it's been chipped at some point, would this give it a rougher profile when pulling away? I don't think it's the DMF and I'm hoping it's not the crankshaft pulley but, hey, who knows. Any idea on the end float of the output shaft please.. Many thanks.

I found that when the 3 lights come on its the wheel bearing on its way out. Had the same problem for ages they would come on etc and I could reset by turning on and off. They eventualy stayed on all the time..Its was bearing, thought I could get away with the second one for some time till the red light came on as well because bearing collapsed..

Plus point, they are only £50 and not the £200 when the first one went.
