Evening all,
In an attempt to lessen the drivetrain shunt and lash on my S3 SWB, I've replaced both props, yokes and all UJs. Whilst I had the rear prop off I pondered about how much slack there's supposed to be in the gearbox system.
With it in 1st gear, and disconnected at the rear diff, I get about 1.5" of rotation along the outside edge of the handbrake drum. Is this normal? Should it be less? Of course, I need to check the diff too, there's a thought.
I've uploaded a naff Youtube video of it if anyone is interested - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hFdx7zuwo8&hd=1"]YouTube- ‪Landy output shaft lash‬‎[/nomedia]
Also, the seal under the castle nut on the output shaft. Is that FRC1780 and is it easy to replace? I took the yoke off, and it decided I needed a shower of EP90 I can't find the part number in any of the S3 parts books, but Google says it might be FRC1780
Cheers
Kyle
