I really don't know what advantage anyone would get out of one of those, the
wheelbase looks far to long to be practical.

Yes, well, of course that's one of the personnel carriers that the South
African police used to use to suppress the [black] rioters, isn't it?
Note the loopholes (for shooting through), armoured driver's cab, and
cage & plates to protect the engine.
