Why oh why do people jump on a forum to say how bad service is with a company, before they have spoken to the supplier,

Yes there are some faults with the items, boxes being open is a common thing I have found with parts i have purchased at the factors, I also have opened boxes just to make sure its the right item as i dont want to get home and find its wrong, if it is it goes back on their shelf.

I wish people would speak to the supplier about the condition of things, then if things an't put right then let others know.

erm, I wasnt bashing the supplier... yet
I was asking for advice on the condition of the things, as I was not sure about what condition the water pump should be in. But it's funny that they send it out in this condition nonetheless, as the packaging of the pump was clearly opened (it was closed with see through sticky tape).

I just wanted to know what people think, and no one was saying anything about their service yet. I will after I've settled this. Rather on the contrary I said their packaging was near perfect!

And I couldnt go to them and look at it, or I wouldnt buy it via mail order...

1/ When you are out of work, money is hard to come by.
2/ Probably thought he was doin us all a favour by letting us know.
3/ When I place an order for anything, I expect it to arrive in usable condition.
4/ There is no excuse for ****ty service.
5/ Might be the guys only car, and its off the road.

Thats five good reasons why I would probably do the same.

that looks like recon pump which is not necessarily a bad thing as would seal by the looks of it depends on what you paid for

I ordered an Airtex pump for 52 quid, arrived in an Allmakes package with suffix "G", but as it was opened and I cant find any numbers or make on the pump, I do not know what it is.

What seal do you mean?

my wife got told she didnt have the qualifications to be a home ec classroom assistant , ie helping set out cooking stuff , order ingredients , tidy up , wash up etc , ironic as she is a nvq assessor in a college too .......... i fitted a new water pump to my disco march last year and last week i fitted am airtex genuine one as 16quid one didnt last . good luck with job hunt mate .

what was i going on about ?! Items should reach you in the same condition they left the parts supplier so if its all well packaged then fine but there shouldnt be scratches on the mating surface , yes i know thats what goo n gaskets are for but it wouldnt of left the manufacturer like that cos of quality control , send a polite email to supplier and go from there mate .

Thanks.

Do you remember whether the Airtex one did have any marks on it? Like Airtex written somewhere, or a part No?
Was the cheap one a britpart or allmakes one? Were there any obvious differences so I can recognise an Airtex/cheap one? That's my problem at the moment, I dont know what they shipped me. Opened package can contain anything, as the pump has no marks on it whatsoever...

I did send an email asking them to comment on that, but I dont expect an answer from them on either saturday or sunday!

and meego was 4/5 right even now , we are yet to see about point 4 (service). Lets hope it stays at 4/5, if they correct it somehow it's alright.

UPDATE:
Got hold of them today by phone, was giving a returns numbers and sending the stuff back so they can have a look at it. The shipping costs I get refunded via paypal I've been told, after I asked about it.
Now lets see how long it will take... I need my car next monday, personally I dont think it will make it in time. At least I can change the timing belt now, put everything back together but the water pump. oh well...

UPDATE:
Sent it back, arrived there, they had a look (took one full day, Wed eve to Fri morning), I called in three times.
They will refund the missing hose, oil filter and pump, and postage, they said. Still have to send them a copy of the postage bill.
So far, none email got a reply, out of 10 calls about 4 went unanswered.
I will let you know when I get the refund.

Placed an order this morning at 10 with paddocks for the water pump (quinton hazell) and it was dispatched today (well, I called in and made sure, but they did manage to do that... again)
So, I'm back to paddocks then. If they would have had the belt and idler pulley for the same price as land-rover-shop, I would have ordered from them in the first place...

To be honest ive not found anyone who even comes close to paddocks speed and service.
Craddocks are pretty awesome just a bit pricier

UPDATE AND FINAL:
Just received refund for pump, filter, hose and shipping, without followup from my side!

So, I am very happy with their service, and I'm confident I will place an order with them again.

Cheers,
Phil
