yes but i changed ALL bearings seals and gaskets with genuine stuff coz the cheap **** you get don't last five mins when you go off roading

i fitted a set of ****part bearings last year, fitted new ones this year coz they were buggered,
so the bearings that cost £5 pound each actually cost me £23 coz i had to replace them with genuine this year.
each to their own, and you only get what you pay for, i learned the hard way

Morning MHM, the reason for the diffrunt piccies is for 10 spline and 24 spline axles.

Typically 24 spline on 300tdis. The outer hub seal was replaced on 24 spline axles with the one in the back of the stub axle, I told yu about earlier. If you look at yur half shaft there is a raised land about 6 inches ish from the outboard end. This is where the oil seal runs, nice polished marking.

10 spline halsf shafts are parallel along thier length allowing axle oil right through. An outer oil seal then keeps this out the bearings.

Hope that helps

Oh, an stop bein a tight wad, £76.00 twas a bargin an probably less than yu paid for a LHD wun

lol - it werent - but i take your point.:D

According to the local Stealer (wot wud he know) - early 200TDi's had the outer oil seal - mine being a late??? 200TDi didnt have. got the noo stub axle seal and gasket today (£3.37), so hopefully will have it back on all four feet  today.

thanks for your help guys.
