Yep, you read that right :(

Went round to Dan's to clear the 3 amigos on the disco using his Nanocom.

Once we'd done that I decided I wanted to turn off the stupid double press unlock while we had it plugged in.

Somehow we managed to end up with the vehicle immobilised as it's no longer reading the key (central locking doesn't work either) and unable to fix it as the car wont talk to diagnostics equipment while immobilised.

Sequence of events went roughly like this.

-Plug Nanocom in and read Slabs fault code.
-Clear Slabs fault codes
-Read ECU fault codes and clear them as there were only historic ones saved.
-Enable Cruise control in ECU (I retrofitted it and it worked fine but figured we might as well code it properly)
-Went into alarm (I think?) module and change the single point entry (SPE) option from "Enabled" to "Disabled"
-Switch off nanocom and try locks but Cental locking still works as normal (two clicks still needed)
-Realise we didn't click save settings first time round so try disabling SPE again
-Try locks again but central locking not working at all (did not try key at this point)
-Assume SPE is not the right option so switch it back to "enabled"
-Try central locking again and still not working
-Try starting the car, starts for 5 secs then dies and won't start again (keeps turning over)
-Think it must have "forgotten" the key so open key to get code
-Go into key sync menu on Nanocom and correct code is still stored in slot 1
-As code is still stored we decide to lock and unlock the car to see if it sorts it out.
-lock car with key in drivers door (alarm activates)
-Unlock car with key in drivers door but alarm does not deactivate.
-Alarm goes off when door is opened
-Can NOT cancel alarm with key in the ignition as I have done in past.
-Pop bonnet, remove grill and unplug horn (2 in grill and 1 backup) so we dont annoy neighbours.
-Realise we now can't "talk" to the car using Nanocom as the Immobiliser is on.
-Do not have the EKA code to turn immobiliser off.
-Get AA to recover car home.
-Log onto Landyzone with tail firmly between legs

That's it from memory. I need to get the EKA code from Land Rover tomorrow and then we can try and sort it out

Anyone know what has happened for the key not to work even though it is still stored in the ECU?

Many thanks in advance

not much ideas as long as you didnt remobilise it with EKA... when it's remobilised you can check with nanocom if the receiver works or not or if it recognise the keys or not ...even if the code is stored you might need to erase it and program it again to make it work...and when you can communicate with the BCU set on "always disarm with key" at least you can remobilise it while you troubleshoot things

I've got the EKA code now but I'm having trouble entering it. I'm using the following procedure.

The code is recorded on the security information card and is entered as follows:

1 Using the key, turn the driver's door lock to the UNLOCK position and hold in this position for at least 5 seconds.
An audible warning is then emitted to indicate that the body control unit is ready to accept the code. Return the key to the centre position. It is now possible to use the key to enter the separate numerical values of the four digits that make up the EKA code.

2
Enter the first digit of the code. If the first digit is 4, turn the key to the UNLOCK position 4 times. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.

3
Enter the second digit of the code. If the second digit is 3, turn the key to the LOCK position 3 times. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.

4
Enter the third digit of the code. If the third digit is 2, turn the key to the UNLOCK position twice. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.

5
Enter the fourth digit of the code. If the fourth digit is 1, turn the key to the LOCK position once. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.

6
Finally, turn the key to the UNLOCK position and back to the centre position, a double bleep will indicate that the code has been entered correctly. A single bleep indicates that the code has been entered incorrectly.
Then, before opening the door, wait 5 minutes for the alarm and immobiliser to be de-activated. During the 5 minute wait for the alarm and immobiliser to be de-activated, the alarm indicator LED in the instrument pack continues to flash (one flash every 2 seconds).
DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR OR ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE CAR until the full delay period has elapsed.
When the 5 minute wait has elapsed, the alarm indicator LED stops flashing. Immediately open the door, insert the key in the ignition switch and turn the switch to position II. If the ignition switch is not turned to position II within 30 seconds of the end of the 5 minute wait, the engine is automatically immobilised again.

The EKA code will not be recognised if there is an interval of 10 seconds or more between key turns or if the key is held turned for 5 seconds or more during the procedure.
In some system configurations a successful EKA code entry is indicated by the audible warning device pulsing twice for a period of 50 ms on, 200 ms off. The theft deterrent LED is switched on for 1 second, all doors unlock, the alarm disarms and the vehicle is remobilised allowing the engine to start.
If an incorrect code is entered, an audible warning is emitted and the procedure must be repeated. Up to a maximum of 10 attempts to enter the code is possible. After 10 attempts, the BCU will not allow any further codes to be entered for a period of 10 minutes.

The car does the first beep at step 1 to signal the BCU is ready.

But at step 6 I get no reply from the car. Nothing to say it was right or wrong. Just silence

I've tried deliberately entering an incorrect code of 1,1,1,1 to see if I get a single beeb but still nothing.

did you try to keep it more(5 seconds) on the unlock at step 6?...i know it's not written but worth a try cos it's strange what's going on

Managed to get the car re-mobilized just now.

Originally I had just reconnected the horn in the engine bay so I could hear the alarm beeps. I decided to try reconnecting the two horns behind the grill as well and it did the trick. The car accepted the code as it should first try :D.

I'd don't know why that stopped the EKA being entered but it did (I had previously also tried finishing the procedure as if the code had been accepted but not acknowledged).

Before as I was entering the code, the central locking was working with the first turn in each direction but now the car ignores the turns as it knows it's the EKA being entered.
