I've just replied to a first time poster in the Defender/90/110/130 section of the Forum. Another member (new one this year) had already replied.
Not so long ago such posters were ignored until someone politely suggested they go and introduce themselves first. The principal being that, as a stranger, you would not walk up to a group of friends chatting and start asking questions of that group. In the real world you would say hello and introduce yourself first.
Have we given up on this principal? Do we think it is important? I'm a member of a mini forum and your first three posts don't appear until authorised by a senior member of the forum.

Hello, apologies for not introducing myself last year - didn't realise the etiquette! I'm a big user of the advice on this forum and very grateful for it too. I have a 2002 Defender 90 TD5 which I've had for I suppose 5 years now. It's my daily drive currently and believe it or not everything works on it to the very last switch which has given me time to focus on those things that make it more practical like good storage, seating, central locking, electric windows, heated windows, and replacing the rear cross member. Not so tidy though that I can't take it off-roading with branches scaping down the side - what's the point if you can't be prepared to do that? I'll stick some pictures up later but much of its good looks and modifications are attributable to the previous owner to whom I am eternally grateful. It's our holiday car much loved by my kids, and building great memories for them just like I had with my dads old family bangers. Also great in the Cotswold snow!

Wow, what a great welcome - here are the promised photos of 'metal'. Loads done to it by previous (hero) owner and me. Particularly fond of the overhead console that gets the radio out of the way meaning dash board wiring is much easier, and there's good overhead space for maps etc. and gives you more lights also. Sat Nav iPad mini sits in the holder where the radio was and still allows access to all switches. Comfy seats fitted for the kids - replaced the cubby box it had for a centre seat - how else do you get 9 people and a dog back from the pub after a long walk! - My son and I are ready for the Zombie Apocalypse!

No additional physical security, but it does have a tracker. It is a worry - I’ll scour these threads for some advice - thinking ‘pedal lock’? Steering lock? Both?
