My lifted, resealed and repaired sunroof and roof rails did not let a dribble in during the biggest downpour I can remember.......... though my garage and loft flooded!
Headliner recovered and carefully hanging in garage looking lovely ready to refit.
The remote locking had gone very intermittent which I put down to all the water in the roof with broken drains, the alarm had to be deactivated manually and left off.
I would like to repair the remote but see no water damage. I cleaned up the bolt/earth tag on the RF receiver in the rear and now the remote never works!! any ideas appreciated, if I buy another is it plug and play or needing coding??
Is there anything else relating to the remote? what is the small round thing on front of the roof inside near the mirror with wires to it??
Also, there is an unused plug in the same area with three wires.....would that be an optional electric sunroof cable loom and if so does anybody know what the three cables do..12V earth etc? I wish to fit a USP outlet up in this area whilst the headliner is out.

In most cases the receivers show no visibe sign of the fault so if you dont have a diagnostic tool to run a RF test the only way to rule it out is by replacing it with a new(or known good) one, it's plug and play.... the rest of questions are just subject of a guessing game without pictures

Hi, thanks and sorry for all the questions! I will post some pictures. Regarding the RF unit, I have a Hawkeye though it is not the latest update. That may test the RF. If I obtain another RF unit is it plug and play? or needs coding to the key?

You quoted my reply without reading it with much attention i think  :
Oops....apologies, thats what comes of using my silly wee phone not the pc! It does plug and play thanks.
Both sunroofs and all roof leaks sorted, all plugs at the ECU's in footwell look good.
I will post pictures later of the other bits! Your guidance is appreciated. Had this Truck 14 years now so know most of its little foibles.

The item on the inside or roof near mirror is one picture. The other two are the unused loom which was wrapped in foam and folded over.

thanks, ACE, nowt to do with the plipper then! haha
Hawkeye tells me no plipper seen, both keys show red light on use and both work when it has worked. I assume if no plipper seen it can only be the RF receiver or wiring back to the relevant ECU, the ecu I also assume works because it "talks" to Hawkeye.with a diagnosis.
